Background to internal strife

Operation SavannahThe Alvor Agreement did not address the internal strife. All three liberation movements still stood strong and were still receiving foreign aid in the form of weapons with the promise of more to come. It was therefore difficult to expect of them to bury the hatchet at this stage. Alvor was Portugal’s last attempt to steer the destiny of Angola in a specific direction.
