It is obvious from before that the FNLA had Zaire to thank for their assistance. The movement had been created there and had reached a level of maturity. From there the UPA launched their attacks into Angola from 1971 and returned afterwards to lick their wounds. There their soldiers were trained, their weapon supply built up, their axes grinded, their offices established, and their army mobilised. President Mobuto provided private funding and weapons to the FNLA for many years. What this amounted to may be recorded somewhere, but this is still not general knowledge.
