| 82 Mechanised Brigade - (8 members)
82 Mechanised Brigade was established on August 1, 1974 as part of 8 South African Division, an armoured formation. By 1977, the brigade comprised of two mechanised battalions, a tank regiment, a field artillery regiment, a field engineer squadron, a signals unit, a maintenance unit, a field workshop and a field ambulance. By 1985, 82 Mechanised Brigade had been transferred to the command of 7th South African Infantry Division, where it remained until 8 Division's brigades were disbanded in 1992 and the battalions and regiments came to answer directly to the divisional headquarters. It had been actively involved in the final conventional battle during Operation Packer in 1988. Link me to this Unit |
