| 84 Motorised Brigade - (2 members)
84 Motorised Brigade was established in Durban on August 1, 1974 as part of 8 South African Division, an armoured formation, with Brigadier G J Wolmarans being appointed as the Brigade's first Commanding Officer. The new Brigade was located at Lords Grounds, which has a colourful history of its own. By 1977, the brigade comprised of three motorised battalions, a field artillery regiment, a field engineer squadron, a signals unit, a maintenance unit, a field workshop, and a field ambulance. By 1985, 84 Motorised Brigade still formed part of 8 SA Division, together with 81 Armoured Brigade and 72 Motorised Brigade. The units under its command have all at one time or another served in the Operational Area and at the end of the Republic Festival celebrations of 1981, men from elements of 84 Motorised Brigade were airlifted from Durban for border duties. The Unit Flash is a Golden Henry VII Halbath Mounted on 8 Armoured Division's colours, orange and blue.
