Transkei Defence Force - (0 members)

The Transkei Defence Force (TDF) [Afr: Transkei Weermag] was established in 1975. The Transkei itself became independent in 1976, but the SADF assisted with training of the TDF until 1978. The TDF took over the administration of the Transkei in a bloodless coup on 30 December 1987, which was still in power when the TDF was disbanded and incorporated into the SANDF in 1994, when the Transkeo was reintegrated into South Africa as part of the Eastern Cape province.
