| 2 Military Hospital - (1 members)
2 Military Hospital can trace its roots to 1899 when the Wynberg Camp was declared a military hospital to receive soldiers wounded or sick returned from the front in the Anglo-Boer War. The barracks were named NO.1 General Hospital and the tents NO.2 General Hospital, Wynberg. No. 1 General Hospital was eventually demolished and replaced by 2 Military Hospital, one of the best designed institutions of its kind in the world. The new 2 Military Hospital (2 MIL) [Afr: 2 Militêre Hospitaal] complex in Wynberg, Cape Town, was taken into service in 1979 and is deemed to be a level 3 specialised base hospital. As part of the new SA Medical Services structure, 2 MIL fell under the direct control of Medical Command Western Province, one of the regional medical commands. Link me to this Unit |
