The 71 Motorised Brigade Headquarters Unit [Afr: 71 Gemotoriseerde Brigadehoofkwartiereenheid] was initially established at the Castle in Cape Town, in 1974, in order to administer the logistical and financial aspects of 71 Motorised Brigade Headquarters as well as handling the disciplinary aspects of all headquarters personnel. Originally housed in Inner Square of the Castle, the unit was moved into the building previously occupied by the Cape Town Rifles (Dukes) during the first three months of 1975. This building lay to the east of the Castle behind 6 Base Ordnance Depot.
