The Group 13 Headquarters [Afr: Hoofkwartier, Kommandogroep 13] was established in 1969 with its base at Bushbuckridge, Acornhoek, originally under the Northern Transvaal Command in Voortrekkerhoogte. Upon the formation of the Far North Command in Pietersburg in 1986 the Group 13 HQ was placed under the command of the newly formed command. After the closure of the Far North Command in 1997 the Group HQ was also closed down. This occurred after President Mbeki announced the disbanding of the commando system on 14th February 2003.
