|Air Force Gymnasium - (16 members)
The Air Force Gymnasium [Afr: Lugmag Gimnasium] was founded at AFS Lyttleton on 3 Feb 1952 to provide basic training to SAAF personnel. In 1959 the Air Force Gym was moved to Valhalla, opposite AFB Swartkop. Every year National Servicemen and PF members had completed their Basic Military Training at the Gym before being transferred to the various units of the SAAF for employment or further specialist training in their particular musterings. Although basic training was its primary task, the training of Protection Services, Fire Department and the School of Cookery was also provided here. The Gym also handled all logistical and administrative matters pertaining to the SAAF Band. Military Skills Development (MSD) and Reserve Force recruits moved to AFB Hoedspruit on 11 Jan 2009, to commence with their training at the Boston Training Facility.
