| Alexander Bay Commando - (0 members)
The Alexander Bay Commando [Afr: Alexanderbaai-Kommando] was established at Alexander Bay in the Northern Cape. During the SADF-period it was organised under the Group 3 Headquarters in Springbok, originally under the Western Province Command, which was in Cape Town. Upon the formation of the Northern Cape Command in Kimberley in 1986 the Group 3 HQ was placed under the command of the newly formed Command. The Commando was mainly used for area force protection, search and cordones as well as stock theft control assistance to the local police, and was disbanded along with all other Commando units after a decision by President Thabo Mbeki in 2003 to disband all Commando Units between 2003 and 2008.
