Benoni Commando - (0 members)

The Benoni Commando [Afr: Benoni-kommando] was originally established at Benoni before 1922, as it had been recorded that members of the commando sided with the Miners Strike of the Rand Rebellion. During the SADF-period the comnmando was organised under the Group 16 Headquarters at Marievale, part of the Witwatersrand Command, and was responsible for local area protection. It was disbanded with the remainder of the commandos after President Mbeki announced the disbanding of the commando system on 14th February 2003.
