111 Battalion (111 BN) [Afr: 111 Suid-Afrikaanse Infanteriebataljon] was established in 1977 at Amsterdam in the Eastern Transvaal
as one of nine regional African battalions to train black soldiers, each with a particular ethnic identity, which would serve under regional SADF commands. 111 SA Battalion were recruited from the self-governing territory of KaNgwane, where the SADF itself maintained a base. it resorted under the command of Eastern Transvaal Command which was based in Nelspruit, and was responsible for patrolling the border between Swaziland and South Africa. 111 Battalion was disbanded around 1999.
