About The War In Angola

MPLA Strategy

In Northern-Angola the war exhibited more durable characteristics than anywhere else. Here it was all about the actual survival of either the MPLA or the FNLA. Agostinho Neto knew that, should the FNLA succeed in capturing Luanda, he and his movement would have practically no base to work from and face complete annihilation. If Holden Roberto was to lose his hold on Northern-Angola, and driven from his own tribal area, his organisation would be doomed to an exiled existence in Zambia.
