Consolidation of Task Force Zulu

While Battle Group Alpha was being equipped on the Rundu firing range, Battle Group Bravo was moved from Mpupa to Calai for consolidation. After Commandant Kotzé arrived at Rundu on Sunday 12 October, he received a detailed briefing from Colonel van Heerden and instructed to prepare an operational instruction. It was Commandnat Kotzé that allocated the name Zulu to the task force. According to journalist Robert Moss the use of names such as Zulu, Alpha and Bravo caused much confusion amongst the Cubans.
