The capture of João de Almeida, 22 October 1975

Up to Chibemba, 120 kilometres further, reached at 19h00, the advance proceeded without incident. The officers spent the night in an abandoned house which was, with the exception of cutlery, completely empty.

The next morning, an airfield could not be located and the reconnaissance plane had to land on the tarred road to pick up the observation officer, Commandant Mulder. After the route further north had been reconnoitred, Task Force Zulu resumed the advance at 09h30, again with Battle Group Bravo in front.
