About The War In Angola
Enemy deployment around Sá de Bandeira

For nearly nine days the advance of Task Force Zulu was executed under almost total secrecy. Even though some reports had gotten through to Sá de Bandeira (Lubango) after the capture of Roçades (Xangongo), it was only after the capture of João de Almeida that further secrecy was made impossible. On the afternoon of 23 October 1975, Radio Luanda had already broadcast the fact that South African forces were operating 30 kilometres south of Sá de Bandeira.
