The company commander immediately reported the situation to battalion headquarters and the headquarters immediately despatched gunship helicopters. Then they saw the Ratel and the company commander ordered the troops to debus but hold their fire due to the possible presence of own troops in the vicinity of the Ratel. At this stage two troops came running towards them from their frontal-left side. They were blood-spattered and severely shocked. According to them they drove into an ambush and they claimed that many of them were hit and killed. Black smoke was starting to pour from inside the Ratel – it was clear that something inside was burning....
