Coordination between Task Force Zulu and Battle Group Foxbat

A glance at the map will clearly indicate that Task Force Zulu, with its advance to the north, and Battle Group Foxbat, with its advance to the west, were rapidly approaching each other to meet in the vicinity of Benguela or Lobito. When this strategy was planned is not clear. From some reports it is apparent that Commandant van der Waals, especially, was worried about the fact that the commanders of the different combat units were not informed of the others’ progress and goals. According to him the lack of communication could result in the groups greeting each other with fire upon meeting.
