Equipment Details

A modern Soviet self propelled surface to air missile system that carries its own acquisition and fire-control radars aboard and can guide two missiles simultaneously. The launcher unit has four missiles and is mounted on an amphibious 6 x 6 vehicle. The missile has minimum and maximum ranges of 1,600 and 15,000 metres and a ceiling of 12,000 metres. It weighs 170kg, has a warhead of 40kg and a maximum speed of Mach 2. It is known as "Gecko" in NATO nomenclature
