2 Satellite Radar Station - (0 members)

2 Satellite Radar Station was established at Ellisras on 12 January 1964. On 15 March 1984 the name was changed to Ellisras Control- and Reporting Post (ECRP) [Afr: Ellisras BMP (beheer en meldingspos)] and fiunally, on 14 September 1992, to Ellisras Reporting Post. The pupose of the unit was to monitor the western and northern borders of South Africa. Air movements were read directrly to Devon to get an overall air picture. The unit consisted of both a Technical and Housing area and both were self-maintained. The unit formd part of the Air Defence network, with its central unit being at Hoedspruit.
