3 Military Hospital

Find Another UnitBrief Description
3 Military Hospital - (3 members)

The hospital can probably trace its roots back to 1899 during the Anglo-Boer War, when No.8 General Hospital was established at Bloemfontein. However it was only established as 3 Military Hospital (3 MIL) [Afr: 3 Militêre Hospitaal] in 1965 and is still deemed to be a level 3 specialised base hospital. From 1978, as part of the new SA Medical Services structure, 3 MIL fell under the direct control of Central Medical Command in Bloemfontein, one of the regional medical commands.
