The 1 SWA Logistics Brigade was formed in Windhoek as part of the South West African Territory Force (SWATF) from August 1980 and comprised of a composite depot, a supply depot, a signal unit, a printing unit, an engineer regiment, a medium workshop and a provost unit (which was part of the brigade up to 1987). 1 SWA Brigade was under the direct control of the SWATF HQ in Windhoek.
