Military Tactics and Strategy of the União Nacional para a Independência Total de Angola (UNITA), 1984

In the early stages of its military campaign against the MPLA regime, UNITA's military tactics reflected the usual approach of a guerrilla force confronted by a superior conventional army - that is to say, UNITA was careful to avoid committing itself to set-piece conventional confrontations with the MPLA and Cuban forces who enjoyed a clear advantage in fire-power as well as air support.
