At that stage the personnel of Battle Group Foxbat who had been deployed in Angola for over two months already, were being systematically replaced. Captain A. Fourie (who had to replace Major Rigaardt) and Major Hennie Schultz (Battle Group Foxbat’s new second-in-command) had arrived at Cela on 20 November 1975. By the evening of 22 November they were already at the front. The bridge across the Tunga had just been completed and everything was ready for the advance to be resumed. It was decided to leave Major Holtzhausen at Tunga so that he could show the ropes to Major Schultz. Captain Fourie was placed in command of the reserve force which largely comprised of the new, still inexperienced squadron of armoured cars and a company of UNITA soldiers.
