Operation Loodvoet, 1980

Operation LoodvoetThis operation was the first in which 32's deployment area stretched 50 km into Angola, giving Alpha, Charlie and Foxtrot companies a vast tract of land to patrol on foot.

Eenhana served as tactical headquarters, and four Alouette gunships, three Puma helicopters and a Super Frelon were placed on standby at the base. A platoon from 37 Battalion was attached to Foxtrot Company for field evaluation. Loodvoet (lead foot) required 32 Battalion to locate and attack the enemy, while members of 1 Parachute Battalion were airlifted in to set up stopper groups and prevent the usual flight into the bush.
